Medical marijuana company Curaleaf is opening the region’s first drive-thru dispensary in East Orlando this week.

Curaleaf is bringing its second Central Florida dispensary to 775 N. Semoran Boulevard in a former Chase Bank location. It had a soft opening Friday and the grand opening is this Thursday.

It will be the second drive-thru dispensary in the state for Curaleaf. Customers can either phone in orders or place them online.

“It’s there for ease of access,” said Vinit Patel, Curaleaf’s regional dispensary operations manager. “Of course we want first-time customers to visit us inside.”

Curaleaf also has a delivery program.

The company’s entire line of products is available through the drive-thru location and delivery.

A drive-thru location does pose some of the same issues as a walk-in location. Most bank and credit systems won’t allow purchases with credit and debit cards. Customers must use cash or something called CanaPay, a Paypal-like digital wallet to transfer money for medical marijuana purchases.

CuraLeaf’s other drive-thru location is in Palm Bay.

CuraLeaf’s corporate headquarters is in Wakefield, Massachusetts, but it’s Florida base is in Miami.

The company’s other location is at 12402 S. Orange Blossom Trail and does not have a drive-thru.
